CAIRO, March 5 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said Suez Canal revenues are expected to recover gradually from April if regional stability improves.
He noted that restoring confidence among shipping companies will help traffic return to normal.
During a press conference following the weekly cabinet meeting, Madbouli assured that Egypt's economic strategy is moving forward and urged public confidence in the country's progress.
Madbouli said the government is following a clear economic plan and that progress is on track.
He addressed a draft law on religious fatwas, stating that it will ensure only Al-Azhar’s Council of Senior Scholars and Dar Al-Ifta issue religious rulings, preventing confusion caused by unauthorized fatwas.
On exports, Madbouli projected that Egypt’s total exports could exceed $100 billion by 2030 if annual growth reaches 15% to 20%, not including service exports like tourism and IT.
Regarding the Grand Egyptian Museum, he confirmed that its opening will be a major global event.
He assured that all costs will be covered by revenue from the event itself, with no financial burden on the state. International sponsors have already expressed interest in supporting the ceremony, according to him.
Madbouli also praised the performance of the government complaint system, now operating as a permanent body within the Cabinet, working 24/7 to address citizen concerns. He noted that the growing number of complaints reflects public trust in the system’s efficiency.
The cabinet meeting tackled developments in Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, and Somalia, with an agreement on the need for peaceful solutions to these countries problems to ensure stability in the region, he told reporters at the news conference. (MENA)
