CAIRO, February 9 (MENA) - Egypt has strongly condemned statements by Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to a US media channel as “misleading and unacceptable”.

Egypt's Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday that the Israeli statements aim at diverting attention away from its blatant crimes against civilians and its destruction of Palestinian vital facilities and infrastructure like hospitals, power stations and schools, as well as its use of siege and starvation as a weapon against civilians.

Netanyahu's statements contradict Egypt's ongoing efforts since the start of the aggression on Gaza, including facilitating the entry of urgent humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, the latest of which was the entry of more than 5,000 trucks into the Gaza Strip.

The statement also referred to Egypt's efforts to facilitate the evacuation of the wounded and dual nationals from the Palestinian territories.

Egypt reiterated rejection of any statements suggesting the displacement of Palestinians to Egypt or Jordan or Saudi Arabia, voicing solidarity with the people of Gaza who are demonstrating steadfastness despite the hardships they endure in defense of their just and legitimate cause.

It also reiterated commitment to Egypt and Arabs' constants emphasizing the Palestinian people's right to establish their own state within the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. (MENA)
