CAIRO, Dec 29 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed with Ali Ehsassi, Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development in the Canadian House of Commons, ways to strengthen bilateral relations, along with several regional and international issues of mutual concern.

During their meeting Sunday, Abdelatty expressed his aspiration to enhance various aspects of distinguished relations between Egypt and Canada.

He emphasized the importance of intensifying economic cooperation and boosting trade and investment between the two countries.

Abdelatty called for a new round of political consultations between Egypt and Canada to be held in April 2025.

He noted that Cairo intends to send a delegation of Egyptian businessmen from the Egypt-Canada Business Council alongside the consultations, aiming to strengthen coordination with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

The minister reviewed the measures undertaken by the Egyptian government to achieve political and economic reform.

He elaborated on the steps Egypt has taken to advance its human rights record.

Abdelatty also discussed Egypt's economic reform policies and measures aimed at fostering a business-friendly environment and encouraging direct investment in the country.

He explained that the decision to waive visa requirements for Canadian citizens reflects the mutual commitment to promoting Canadian visits to Egypt, which would help invigorate trade, investment, and tourism while advancing bilateral relations in line with shared aspirations.

The two sides exchanged views on the ongoing developments in the region and the challenges facing Egypt from various strategic directions. (MENA)
