CAIRO, Dec 31 (MENA) - Egyptian ambassador in Tunis Bassem Hassan asserted Egypt's keenness to consolidate ties between the two countries in the coming period via enhancing cooperation in the economic and trade fields, particularly in light of the great interest that the leaderships of the two countries attach to shore up bilateral cooperation in the coming stage.
The Egyptian diplomat's remarks came during his meeting with Tunisian Minister of Trade and Export Development Samir Obaid.
During the meeting, the two sides expressed their keenness on intensifying cooperation to beef up the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.
They also stressed the importance of joint coordination to achieve the maximum benefit from regional cooperation frameworks, in addition to trade and accumulation of origin agreements.
They also underlined the importance of benefiting from these agreements in boosting exports and alleviating pressures on the balance of payments.
The two sides stressed the necessity of joint action to overcome obstacles to market access for the two countries’ exports.
They also discussed means to coordinate customs approaches and overcome non-tariff barriers, activate the agreement to establish a direct shipping line between the two countries, and encourage the private sector to set up joint investment projects in the promising sectors.
The two sides stressed the importance of intensifying meetings between senior officials of the two countries within the framework of the ongoing preparations for the Egyptian-Tunisian Commercial and Industrial Committee's meeting and the next round of the Joint Higher Committee and its preparatory meetings.
These meetings aim at broadening bilateral relations in 2025 in light of the successful partnership and close ties between the two countries' peoples. (MENA)
