CAIRO, Dec 29 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Sunday ordered maintaining efforts toward the achievement of transition to integrated digital society that provides digital services and governance of data.
The president also directed officials to expand training and build digital capabilities through the expansion in applied technology schools and Digital Egypt innovation centers and the qualification of youth to obtain job opportunities.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, President Sisi asserted the necessity of supporting programs that are implemented as part of the state's efforts in the fields of data protection, cyber security and Artificial intelligence.
He said it is essential to attract more special, international centers to work in Egypt in the domains of research and development.
Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shenawy said President Sisi was posted on efforts exerted to implement "Digital Egypt" strategy aimed at developing outsourcing industry, in addition to encouraging global companies to expand their activities in the country.
The spokesman added that President Sisi was keen on reviewing efforts to improve coverage services and the quality of communications and internet to meet needs of citizens.
Shennawy added the president was also briefed on the situation of launching the second edition of the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy, which will be soon launched to exploit such technology to attain the country's sustainable development goals, play a key role in facilitating regional cooperation within the African and Arab regions, and establish Egypt as an active international player in AI.
He said the meeting also discussed vistas of cooperation between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and other ministries. (MENA)
