CAIRO, Dec 26 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi called for maximizing economic returns from ports overlooking the Suez Canal and benefiting from the strategic location of the waterway in increasing investments.
He also urged developing the canal's area to become a regional logistics and industrial hub.
The president underscored the importance of strengthening the private sector's participation in investment projects in the Suez Canal's area to achieve the desired development.
President Sisi made the remarks during his meeting on Thursday with Port Said Governor Maj. Gen. Moheb Habashi, Presidential Adviser for Urban Planning Amir Sayed Ahmed, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie and Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ahmed el Azazi, along with other officials, said Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El Shennawy.
The spokesman added that the president was briefed on the efforts exerted to advance the development process in the Suez Canal area, as well as the progress made in carrying out investment and service projects there.
The president was also posted on the endeavors to facilitate crossing and linking between the two banks of the canal, in a way that serves development goals in the Canal cities of Port Said, Suez, and Ismailia.
President Sisi issued directives for accelerating the implementation of projects in the Suez Canal area, while focusing on logistics zones with great importance. (MENA)
