NEW ALAMEIN, Egypt, Aug 8 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said the government is following up on efforts to ensure the availability of drugs and medical supplies in light of consistent directives for giving top priority to addressing the problem of the shortage of some medicines.

Madbouly made the remarks during a meeting he held on Thursday at the government headquarters in New Alamein City to review efforts exerted by the government and various state bodies concerned to ensure the availability of drugs and medical supplies and address the shortage of some medicines in the domestic market.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement (UPA) Bahaa El Din Zidan, and Head of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) Ali el Ghamrawy, among other officials.

The meeting touched on some areas of work related to efforts to supply drugs and various medical supplies in the domestic market through a committee formed for this purpose, Cabinet Spokesman Mohamed el Homosany said.

It also discussed the role played by local and foreign private sector companies to ensure the availability of local medical production. (MENA)
