CAIRO, , April 15 (MENA) - The Arab League (AL) said Monday that restoring peace, security and stability to Sudan tops its priorities despite the bloody incidents in some parts of the Arab world.

Addressing the "International Humanitarian Conference for Sudan and its Neighbors," attended by the European Union commissioner and the foreign minister of France, and Germany in Paris, AL assistant Secretary General Hossam Zaki said Sudan is passing through the worst phase since its independence.

This event coincides with the one-year anniversary of the conflict in Sudan, which has led to the largest displacement crisis in the world.

He pointed out that nearly 11 million Sudanese fled their homes to remote areas and neighboring countries as a result of the fighting between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces.

The AL official expressed his organization's keenness on reaching a permanent ceasefire and resuming a political dialogue leading to peace in the Arab-African country.

He hailed regional and international good offices to end the suffering of the Sudanese people and achieve permanent peace. (MENA)
