CAIRO, July 20 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli congratulated on Sunday Yassmin Fouad on her appointment as Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
He thanked Fouad for her tireless efforts since she served as Egypt’s Environment Minister from 2018 until her resignation earlier in the day.
Madbouli said the appointment of Fouad in this prestigious position reflects her competence in undertaking significant responsibilities to support the international organization's efforts in addressing environmental challenges, which have gained global momentum.
It also builds on her career in the environmental domain, Madbouli said, wishing her success in her new position.
Fouad is considered one of the most distinguished experts in the field of environmental diplomacy, with over 25 years of experience in environmental governance and global environmental issues.
She has wide expertise in international climate diplomacy and a track record in designing and implementing institutional and regulatory reforms to achieve sustainable development. (MENA)
