MALABO, July 13 (MENA) - The 7th African Union (AU) Mid-Year Coordination Meeting (MYCM) kicked off Sunday in Malabo the capital of Equatorial Guinea, with the participation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and a number of African leaders.
President Sisi’s participation comes in light of Egypt’s chairmanship of the North Africa Regional Mechanism and its presidency of the Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee of the African Union Development Agency (NEPAD).
During the summit, President Sisi is expected to present Egypt’s efforts to advance the work of these two mechanisms, in a way that would help promote peace and security and strengthen the goals of development and stability across the African continent.
The opening ceremony featured the playing of the AU anthem, followed by the national anthem of Equatorial Guinea, the host nation of the summit. (MORE)
