BEIJING, July 12 (MENA) - An Egyptian student won the best literary style award at the Chinese Bridge Competition.
The best literary style award was shared by Marwan Mazen from Egypt and another student from Indonesia.
Marwan, a second-year high school student in the international section at Yucai School in Beijing, did not merely narrate a story but crafted a vivid poetic tableau showcasing key landmarks of the historic Chinese capital, such as Tiananmen Square, the Temple of Heaven, and the nearby Bell and Drum Towers adjacent to his school. His poetic narration combined sound, light, heritage, spirit, and literary sensibility.
The “Chinese Bridge – storytelling branch” competition concluded with the participation of a select group of young people from various continents around the world. They gathered at Hangzhou University of Electronic Science and Technology, under the supervision of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Education.
According to China’s Xinhua News Agency, the competition witnessed strong rivalry among 50 contestants from 31 countries, who qualified from an initial pool of 1,400 participants representing more than 90 countries. These participants underwent regional and local elimination rounds before reaching the finals.
The contest tests the candidates' Chinese language skills and knowledge about China, and also involves a Chinese cultural performance. (MENA)
