SEVILLE, Spain, June 30 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed that effective international development cooperation has become essential for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, expressing hope for the full activation of the newly launched “Seville Platform for Action,” which he said could help move from commitments to tangible achievements.

“We look forward to working constructively with other countries and development partners to make this platform a successful model for knowledge exchange and the adoption of best practices, ensuring no one is left behind,” Madbouly said during his participation, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, in the launch of the Seville Platform for Action as part of the Fourth United Nations Conference on Financing for Development, hosted by Spain’s Seville.

The event was attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat, and other senior officials.

Madbouly said the Seville Platform for Action comes at a critical time to mobilize governments, financial institutions, development partners, the private sector, and all stakeholders to assess challenges, exchange experiences, and showcase innovative solutions to get the world back on track toward accelerating the fulfillment of the SDGs.

He expressed appreciation that Egypt is highlighted in the platform as a successful development model, particularly in its use of the Integrated National Financing Framework (INFF) to coordinate reforms and investments and implement Egypt Vision 2030.

He pointed to Egypt’s innovative “NWFI” national platform that focuses on attracting investments and financing for high-return projects serving water, food, and energy sectors.

Madbouly noted that the INFF serves as a critical tool to prioritize investments, map the financing landscape, and optimize resource allocation, with special emphasis on key sectors that accelerate sustainable development, such as education, health, social protection, water and sanitation, and transportation, while also addressing pressing issues like the environment and gender equality.

He described the INFF as the backbone of several flagship initiatives aimed at fostering multidimensional sustainable development and inclusive societal partnerships. Chief among these, he said, is the “Takaful and Karama” presidential program launched in 2015 to support poor households by providing both conditional and unconditional cash transfers.

The program, Madbouly explained, strengthens social protection, education, and healthcare, and is internationally recognized as an effective model of social safety nets.

He also highlighted another success story: the “Decent Life” presidential initiative, launched in 2019 as Egypt’s national project for rural development, which aims to improve living standards and daily life for Egyptians by delivering a comprehensive package of services. The initiative currently benefits more than 60 million Egyptians across over 4,500 villages, he said. (MENA)
