Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said that Egypt's vision is for the Palestinian National Authority to administer the Gaza Strip. He explained that the Egyptian proposal suggests the formation of a non-partisan technocratic committee to manage Gaza for six months in coordination with the Palestinian Authority.

In his interview with "ON TV", Abdelatty noted that Egypt offered the possibility of training the Palestinian police and redeploying them in the Strip to enforce security and order.

Regarding the potential deployment of Arab forces in Gaza after a ceasefire, the Foreign Minister said there is no objection to the deployment of an international force with Arab participation, provided there is a clear political horizon and a specific timetable leading to the realization of a Palestinian state. The primary role of such an international force would be to prepare and pave the way for the establishment of the Palestinian state.

As for Egypt's possible participation in the international force if approved, the Foreign Minister stated that all ideas are on the table, as long as there is a political horizon leading to the realization of the Palestinian state. He emphasized that Egypt’s proposals are practical and are being discussed by all parties.

Abdelatty affirmed that there is no alternative to the establishment of a Palestinian state, a conviction shared by Egypt and the international community. He pointed out that the international community is now overwhelmingly speaking about the need for a two-state solution and the realization of a Palestinian state.

He further clarified that Egypt is currently speaking about the realization of a Palestinian state, rather than merely a two-state solution. He noted that when we talk about the two-state solution now, we are effectively giving veto power to a party (the United States) that opposes the two-state solution, as it does not want another partner on the ground.

He added that there is an existing Israeli government that rejects the two-state solution.

Abdelatty stressed the need for joint efforts and pressure to realize the Palestinian state, as it is the only guarantee for the region’s security and stability, being the sole viable solution for peace and security in the region. (MORE)
