CAIRO, June 28 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Saturday chaired a roundtable to discuss bolstering the private sector, boosting exports, and attracting investments.
The event brought together top business leaders, heads of export councils, as well as ambassadors-designate preparing to take up posts in Egyptian embassies and missions abroad.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khalaf said the minister stressed the vital role of the private sector as a main partner in achieving economic and development goals.
Abdelatty underlined that Egypt’s foreign missions worldwide are being actively leveraged to serve the country’s economic agenda, support exports and promote Egyptian companies and investments, noting that the ministry’s work goes well beyond political and consular files to encompass economic, development, and cultural dimensions.
The minister noted that embassies and diplomatic missions are being mobilized to strengthen trade and investment ties, in full coordination with other ministries and national institutions, to ensure institutional integration and fulfill Egypt’s strategic objectives.
The spokesman added that Abdelatty affirmed economic and commercial affairs are at the top of the Foreign Ministry’s priorities, with its departments working to promote investment and trade opportunities and showcase Egypt’s business climate, alongside capitalizing on the minister’s overseas visits to strengthen Egypt’s footprint in international markets.
The minister also pointed out that he often includes business delegations in some of his foreign trips to highlight economic prospects and open new avenues for Egyptian companies, particularly in sectors prioritized by the state such as construction, healthcare, agriculture, and ready-made garments.
Abdelatty spotlighted the ministry’s efforts to harness Egypt’s membership in major economic blocs like BRICS, and participation in international forums such as G20 meetings and UN gatherings, to attract new international partners, advance economic and development opportunities, and shape joint initiatives that support Egypt’s growth objectives.
Representatives of the private sector welcomed the ministry’s initiative in organizing the meeting, which aims to back private enterprises and discuss ways to ramp up Egyptian exports.
A dynamic discussion followed between the minister, business leaders, and heads of export councils on how to enhance collaboration between the private sector and Egypt’s embassies and consulates abroad, in a manner that empowers Egyptian companies to play a more impactful role in foreign markets and leverages diplomatic channels to drive economic interests, ultimately supporting the national economy.
