CAIRO, June 21 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a phone call on Saturday with Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa that focused on the latest regional developments.
During the phone call, both leaders expressed deep concern over the ongoing escalation between Israel and Iran, warning the expansion of the conflict would have serious consequences on all regional countries, Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shennawy said.
They asserted the need for all parties involved to act responsibly and work towards resolving the current crisis through negotiations and peaceful means.
They also highlighted the importance of the international community taking up its responsibilities in this regard.
Shennawy added that both leaders stressed that the current regional escalation is linked to the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
They underscored the urgent necessity of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and warned of the humanitarian catastrophe facing the enclave.
The two leaders called for immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to save the lives of people in Gaza, Shennawy added.
Furthermore, both leaders reaffirmed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state remains the only viable guarantee for achieving lasting regional stability, the spokesman said.
He said that the two leaders also reaffirmed the strength and depth of relations between Egypt and Bahrain.
Both President Sisi and King Hamad expressed their mutual commitment to strengthening cooperation in all domains in order to realize the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples for progress and prosperity, he added. (MENA)
