SOFIA, June 18 (MENA) - Bulgarian nationals who have requested to be evacuated from Iran have been assisted, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
At the moment, a limited number of applications have been received from Bulgarian citizens for evacuation from Israel, the ministry said in a statement carried by the Bulgarian News Agency on Wednesday.
The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said it remains in constant contact with the Bulgarian diplomatic missions in the region and is following the situation in the Middle East region with caution and concern as it develops dynamically.
On Wednesday, a group of 148 people evacuated from Israel, 89 of them Bulgarians, arrived at Vasil Levski Airport in Sofia, it said.
The move was carried out in strict compliance with all security measures, and upon arrival of the evacuees on the Bulgarian territory, they were provided with additional support and assistance, it added.
The ministry expressed its gratitude to all the institutions that have provided and continue to assist, as well as to the teams of the Bulgarian diplomatic missions on the ground, for the professionalism and commitment shown. (MENA)
