CAIRO, June 14 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said that the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has been postponed to the final quarter of 2025 due to regional instability and security concerns.
Madbouli explained that the delay was necessary because of the escalation in conflict across the region, which would affect the international visibility and appropriate atmosphere for such a major cultural event.
Ongoing conflict is expected to continue for several weeks, overlapping with the planned opening timeline.
The new date will be set based on developments over the coming months. (MENA)
