CAIRO, June 3 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty voiced hope to capitalize on the momentum witnessed in relations between Egypt and India in recent years to take tangible steps to enhance cooperation in various fields.
This came during a meeting on Tuesday with a high-level parliamentary delegation from India, on the sidelines of the delegation's visit to Cairo.
During the meeting, Abdelatty highlighted the importance of activating the strategic partnership agreement between the two countries for the best interests of both sides, said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tamim Khalaf.
The minister highlighted the importance of utilizing the delegation's visit to Cairo to launch institutionalized cooperation at the parliamentary level between Egypt and India, and to explore new horizons for bilateral collaboration.
Meanwhile, the minister expressed Egypt's solidarity with India on the back of the terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam in Kashmir on April 22, 2025, referring to the phone call that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi made with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the incident, as well as the calls that Abdelatty made to his Indian counterpart.
This reflects the depth of relations between the two countries as well as Egypt's firm commitment to its humanitarian principles that call for addressing all forms of terrorism.
Abdelatty expressed Egypt's concern over the spread of terrorism, which has become one of the most serious security threats facing humanity, highlighting Egypt's adoption of an integrated approach to confronting this phenomenon.
He underscored Egypt's accumulated experience in confronting fierce waves of terrorism over the past decades.
Abdelatty accentuated Egypt's supportive stand for easing tension between India and Pakistan in order to contribute to security and stability in the South Asian region, noting that Cairo has been following with great concern the developments in the region.
He noted that Egypt welcomes the India-Pakistan ceasefire agreement and underlined the importance of settling all protracted issues between the two sides through dialogue and diplomatic channels. (MENA)
