CAIRO, June 2 (MENA) - The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) is set to launch fifth-generation (5G) mobile services on Wednesday.

To mark the official rollout, the NTRA will hold a major celebration at the Pyramids area in Giza.

On October 7, 2024, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat witnessed the signing of the second batch of 5G service licenses for Egypt’s mobile operators.

The total value of licenses, which were awarded to Vodafone Egypt, Orange, e& Egypt, and WE amounted to $675 million.

The minister emphasized that the launch of 5G services marks a significant leap forward for Egypt, supporting all aspects of voice services and various sectors, including smart cities, logistics, agriculture, healthcare, and other citizen-centric services.

He also highlighted that 5G will bring advanced medical and agricultural services, aligning with Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development.

Since 2019, Egypt has invested approximately $2.7 billion to secure frequencies and licenses, underscoring the confidence of local and international investors in the national digital vision. (MENA)
