Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty confirmed that Egypt will send technical experts to Gambia in various sectors, including doctors for complex surgeries such as kidney and liver transplants.

He also noted Egypt’s contribution to building a hospital in Banjul, visited recently by the Gambian president.

Both sides agreed to finalize agreements in fisheries and higher education and to expand scholarships offered by Al Azhar.

Abdelatty added that the Gambian foreign minister will meet several Egyptian officials, including the Grand Imam of Al Azhar.

Talks addressed security in West Africa and the African Union’s role, as well as the situation in Gaza. Egypt called for a ceasefire, immediate aid access, the release of detainees, and Israeli withdrawal.

Abdelatty also thanked Gambia for supporting Egypt’s candidate, Dr Khaled El-Anany, for the Director-General of UNESCO. (MORE)
