CAIRO/ABIDJAN, May 28 (MENA) – Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Governor Hassan Abdalla is heading the country’s official delegation to African Development Bank (AfDB) annual meetings in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.
Running from May 26 to 30, the event, themed “Making Africa's Capital Work Better for Africa's Development,” includes high-level participation from African leaders and officials.
Abdalla, who also serves as Egypt’s AfDB governor, attended the official opening on Tuesday alongside several African heads of state. The meetings will include the election of a new AfDB president for a five-year term.
Abdalla said this year’s discussions reflect the urgent need for realistic strategies amid global geopolitical tensions and rising borrowing costs. He praised the AfDB’s role in supporting African development goals.
Egypt’s cooperation portfolio with the AfDB totals $8.2 billion since 1974, funding projects across energy, transport, agriculture, and finance.
This year’s sessions also focus on empowering African youth and leveraging human capital for inclusive growth.
