ABUJA, May 15 (MENA) - The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has trained women and youths on various skill acquisitions to help them become self-reliant and contribute to national development, ACCI Director-General Agabaidu Jideani told an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Jideani said the ACCI has trained women on digital technology, welding, networking opportunities, and digital marketing, among other areas.

The training was aimed at ensuring that women and youths have strong means of livelihood to enable them to support their families, he added.

“The ACCI is committed to ensuring that we give our people, especially the women, adequate training in various fields through which they can then raise the economic status of their families,” he noted.

“The essence is to bring out the potential in women, to seize their economic opportunities by learning how to boost their productivity and maximize income,” Jideani said.

“This effort will help them become financially stable, as joblessness is a major cause of insecurity in the country,” he added.

“Women have good potential for greatness, but they need a little push. The training will also support them to have a viable source of livelihood,” he pointed out.

The ACCI head said the chamber believed it was important to help women and youths acquire skills so that they will not consider antisocial behaviors or crimes as an option for their daily survival. (MENA)
