CAIRO, May 12 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed that the Egyptian government has made significant progress in the digital transformation sector over recent years, both in services provided to individuals and to businesses.

This effort aligns with global technological advancements, he said, noting however, that many additional digital services and technologies are still in the pipeline and will be launched in the near future.

The statement came during a meeting he had on Monday at the government's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital with Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat to follow up on key files handled by the ICT ministry.

During the meeting, Talaat presented the current status of the Real Estate National ID Bill, explaining that it will come into effect once it is signed into law by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, following its recent approval by the House of Representatives. He noted that coordination is underway with relevant stakeholders to prepare the executive regulations needed for implementation.

The minister highlighted the number of electricity meters that are geographically linked and assigned national real estate ID numbers, as well as the IDs already issued across various governorates. He emphasized that the bill marks a major step forward in organizing Egypt’s real estate sector by assigning each property—residential, commercial, industrial, or otherwise—a unique national ID, regardless of its type or size. This system aims to streamline property transactions and prevent fraudulent practices related to duplicate or misleading addresses, he pointed out. The national real estate ID will serve as the sole official identifier for all property-related dealings across state institutions, he made it clear.

Talaat also reviewed the status of digitizing public services through various government entities and outlined the plan for cataloging available e-services on the Digital Egypt platform. Coordination is ongoing with service providers to consolidate 35 services currently offered by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, traffic authorities, courts, the commercial registry, notarization offices, and Egypt Post, he said. Further services are being prepared for integration into the platform, he added.

The minister also shed light on the progress of the “Digital Pioneers” initiative, reporting that 16,900 individuals had registered on the platform, with around 15,000 applying for programs such as the intensive diploma, specialized diploma, professional master’s, and Master of Science. He provided details on the demographic distribution of applicants, funding progress, testing procedures, and infrastructure readiness for the educational programs.

Additionally, the financial performance of Silicon Waha for technology parks was reviewed, including cash flow, net profits, and occupancy rates at technology parks in New Borg El Arab, New Assiut, New Beni Suef, and Sadat City. Job opportunities within these tech parks were also discussed.

The meeting concluded with a discussion on the status of launching 5G technology in Egypt. The ICT minister confirmed that President Sisi has instructed the acceleration of 5G rollout to enhance communication efficiency and drive digital transformation across various sectors.
