SOFIA, May 8 (MENA) - Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev has taken part in an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Warsaw, the foreign ministry's press center said on Thursday.
The Gymnich meeting was organized by the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. It started with an informal discussion with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, with whom the ministers discussed a wide range of topics, including security and defense, Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East and Sudan, the Bulgarian News Agency reported.
The EU's continued support for Ukraine, diplomatic efforts to achieve a lasting ceasefire and the necessary parameters for doing so, as well as continued pressure on Russia through a further 17th sanctions package, were among the highlights of the discussion, according to the news agency.
Immediately after the meeting, the ministers held a working lunch with their counterparts from candidate and potential candidate states for EU membership. The discussion focused on the challenges of disinformation and hybrid threats and the need to build the resilience of institutions and societies in candidate and potential candidate countries. (MENA)
