CAIRO, May 4 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on Sunday convened a meeting to review the project of upgrading the e-system of finalizing the arrival procedures of tourists at Egyptian airports.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad Tamer el Meligy, Chairman of the Egyptian Company for Tracking and IT services (ETIT) Ashraf Aliwa, and officials of ministries and bodies concerned.

During the meeting, Madbouli affirmed the importance of coordination and cooperation between bodies concerned to simplify the arrival procedures for tourists at Egyptian airports, in accordance with the latest global e-systems applied in this field.

The premier emphasized the government's keenness to support tourism that is deemed one of Egypt's promising sectors.

He underscored the importance of creating a distinctive experience for foreign tourists in Egypt, including streamlining and facilitating entry and exit procedures for foreign tourists at Egyptian airports through reliance on cutting-edge technologies in this domain.

For his part, the communications minister expounded a project to develop the e-visas platform for foreign tourists. The project aims to ease their entry procedures at Egyptian airports, he stated.

The development of the system aims to transform the tourist visa system from paper forms to the Instant digital issuance (IDI), with a view to reducing crowd at airports, improving work environment at terminals, along with enhancing tourism services, Talaat added. (MENA)
