DUBAI, April 30 (MENA) – The number of tourists visiting Egypt in the first quarter of 2025 rose 25 percent compared with the same period a year earlier, Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathi said.
This reflects growing confidence in the Egyptian destination despite geopolitical challenges, Fathi told a press conference in Dubai in the presence of nearly 100 representatives of Emirati, Arab and international news agencies, newspapers and TV channels.
The press conference was held at the conclusion of the tourism minister's participation in the 32nd edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM 2025), which is held from April 28 to May 1.
The minister is holding various meetings aimed at boosting tourism to Egypt from target markets.
He also conducted interviews with major media institutions, including Al-Ittihad newspaper, Asharq Al-Awsat, Sky News Arabia, CNBC Arabia, and Asharq Bloomberg.
During the interviews, Fathi reviewed the tourism ministry's strategy for developing the Egyptian tourism sector.
The strategy highlights the unique diversity of Egyptian destinations; making them the most prominent globally, according to the minister.
In this regard, he noted that Egypt received 15.8 million tourists in 2024, seeing a 6% increase compared with 2023 and exceeding pre-pandemic levels by a growth rate of 21%. (MENA)
