CAIRO, April 29 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said the government will present a draft law on old rental contracts to Parliament before the end of the current legislative term, in line with a ruling by the Constitutional Court.
During a press conference, Madbouli stated that the proposal includes setting a fixed starting rent value for properties in cities and villages, with a five-year transitional period for gradual rent increases. It also includes social protections for lower-income tenants.
Madbouli added that the final version will be discussed in Parliament to reach a fair arrangement for both landlords and tenants.
He added that the government is also reviewing the sports law, with proposed changes to be submitted to Parliament in the coming weeks.
Consultations are underway with legislative bodies on whether any amendments are needed to the election law.
