Applauding ongoing cooperation to achieve energy security for Djibouti, the two leaders agreed to lay the foundation stone of a project for supplying and installing a solar power plant Arta region of Djibouti few days after President Sisi’s visit to the sisterly African country.

The project will be executed by the ministries of electricity in both countries, in partnership with the Arab Organization for Industrialization and the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development.

They also hailed ongoing cooperation in the field of ports and free zones, highlighting a number of projects Egypt is expected to implement in this regard, including a new logistics zone in the Djibouti Free Zone (DFZ), a project to expand the Doraleh Container Terminal (DCT), and the construction of a new 90 km RN18 Southern Corridor Road.

Asserting the importance of increasing the volume of trade exchange, the two leaders agreed to work for enhancing joint investments and exploit the promising economic potential in the two countries. They welcomed the establishment of an Egyptian-Djiboutian Business Council and activate it as soon as possible.

They also welcomed the allocation of 150,000 square meters in the Djibouti Free Zone for Egyptian companies to use as a logistics hub to promote bilateral trade expand into neighboring markets. They also discussed the official opening of a new branch of Egypt's Banque Misr in Djibouti within few days following Sisi’s visit. (MORE)
