The Egyptian and Kuwaiti sides also discussed developments of the situation in Sudan and international and regional efforts aimed at ending the ongoing war, the statement said. They renewed their call for an end to the conflict, a ceasefire, and for securing and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to all Sudanese territories and protecting civilians in accordance with international resolutions, it also said. Also, they emphasized the need for launching a comprehensive political process within a purely Sudanese national dialogue, free from foreign dictates. In this regard, both sides expressed their support for all international and regional initiatives, foremost among them the Neighboring Countries Mechanism and the Jeddah Platform.
Moreover, the two countries affirmed the necessity of supporting Sudanese national institutions and rejected any unilateral measures that could threaten the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Sudan, according to the statement. They welcomed international efforts aimed at addressing the humanitarian repercussions of the Sudanese crisis, which has led to the displacement of more than 13 million Sudanese citizens internally and in neighboring countries, it said. They also stressed the importance of donor countries fulfilling their commitments to support Sudan’s neighboring states, it added.
The Kuwaiti side expressed appreciation and support for Egypt’s efforts to restore stability in Sudan and help the sisterly nation overcome its crisis.
The two sides confirmed the necessity of respecting Libya’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and rejecting all forms of foreign interference in its internal affairs, the statement read. They stressed the ownership of Libyans over the political process and adherence to the Libyan Political Agreement signed in Skhirat in 2015, the Libyan Constitutional Declaration and its amendments, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, in order to hold simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections, it said.
They also stressed in the joint statement, the importance of the withdrawal of all foreign forces, fighters, and mercenaries from Libya within a specified timeframe, the disbandment of militias, and the reunification of military and security institutions under a unified executive authority capable of governing all Libyan territory and representing the entire Libyan people.
