Foreign minister Abdelatty said that he briefed his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó on the outcomes of the second ministerial meeting of Khartoum Process, which took place in Cairo on Wednesday.
The meeting with Szijjártó tackled regional issues, Abdelatty said, adding that he posted his Hungarian counterpart on Egypt's strenuous efforts to immediately halt daily crimes committed by Israel against the Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.
Abdelatty also briefed the top Hungarian diplomat on Egypt's proposals regarding releasing captives, in exchange for a number of Palestinian prisoners, and entering into negotiations to put into effect the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement that was announced in January.
He added that he briefed Szijjártó on the Arab plan for the reconstruction and early recovery of Gaza without displacing Palestinians from their land, as well as the momentum the plan has gained at the international level.
The Egyptian foreign minister reaffirmed Cairo's commitment to hosting an international conference for the reconstruction of Gaza as soon as possible following reaching an effective ceasefire agreement.
Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's total rejection of the forced displacement of the Palestinians, saying that this is an Egyptian-Jordanian red line.
Granting the Palestinian people their legitimate rights and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the borders of 1967, with East Jerusalem (Al Quds) as its capital, is the sole way to achieve security for Israel and the region, he said.
He added that talks with Szijjártó touched on the crises in Sudan, Syria and Lebanon. (MENA)
