CAIRO, April 9 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said the government is making legislative amendments to promote the performance of the Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX).
Responding to a MENA question during a press conference held Wednesday after the cabinet weekly meeting, he said the government will take any measure to promote EGX performance.
He noted that he had talks with the heads of EGX and the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) on required legislative amendments to boost EGX.
He noted that EGX has witnessed significant interest from Egyptians, particularly young people, over the past two years.
He noted that the trading volume is currently very high, however it is still below the aspired level, he noted.
As for the gold investment funds, the premier said over 184,000 investors invest in these funds whose investments exceeded EGP 1.7 billion.
He said the state is looking forward to establishing more of these funds, noting that this is a good investment tool for ordinary citizens. (MENA)
