CAIRO, April 5 (MENA) - Egypt strongly condemned an attack that targeted the United Nations Integrated Peacekeeping Mission in in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) in the southeast of the country.

The assault left one Kenyan ‘blue helmet’ dead.

In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration reiterated its firm position rejecting the targeting of UN peacekeeping missions.

The country reaffirmed its complete support for the important role UN mission MINUSCA is playing and efforts it is exerting to achieve peace and stability as well as countries contributing to UN peacekeeping operations, added the statement.

Egypt offered condolences to the government and people of Kenya over the killing of its peacekeeper when his unit was on a long-range patrol near the village of Tabane in the Haut-Mbomou prefecture, in the southeast of the country, the statement said. (MENA)
