CAIRO, March 27 (MENA) - Egypt's exports of glass and its products to Brazil jumped to dlrs 37.9 million moving Egypt from the tenth place among the largest exporters to Brazil in 2023 to fourth in 2024.

According to data from Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services Thursday, exports of Egyptian glass products to Brazil increased in 2024 by 105% over the year compared to the previous year. Most of the exports consist of table and kitchen utensils, glass cups, plates, glass wicks, crystal goblets and glass tubes, fiberglass mats and glass items for dressing tables and desks.

Head of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) Michael Gamal said Egypt has a very thriving glass industry and the country maintains glass craftsmanship that mainly focuses on antique pieces and the local market. But most of Egypt's glass sector is dedicated to exports, the production of tableware, glass for the automotive sector and glass for building materials, said the ABCC head.

Gamal pointed out that Egypt achieved a huge leap in glass exports in 2024 and exported more than dlrs 400 million worth of glass around the world.

According to the data, the leading international markets for Egyptian glass are “Turkey, the US, Morocco, Spain, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Lebanon, and Brazil.” (MENA)
