CAIRO, March 22 (MENA) - Egypt is celebrating the 80th anniversary of establishing the Arab League (AL) that represents a platform for joint Arab action since its foundation on March 22, 1945, in Cairo.  

The Foreign Ministry, in a statement on this occasion, expressed Egypt's pride in its historical role in founding, supporting, and hosting the headquarters of the AL, which has been a fundamental bloc for enhancing cooperation between Arab countries in various political, economic, social, and cultural fields.

Egypt praises AL efforts in defending Arab interests and coordinating between Arab countries to face regional and international challenges, the Foreign Ministry said in the statement.

The Arab League also played a pivotal role in supporting Arab issues and achieving the aspirations of the Arab peoples, as well as its crucial role in mobilizing Arab efforts to support independence and liberate Arab territories, the statement read.

The AL is still exerting strenuous efforts in coordinating common positions and visions to confront challenges facing the Arab nation, alongside working seriously to intensify economic and political integration between its member states, the statement added. (MENA)
