CAIRO, March 20 (MENA) - Chairman of the African Cooperation Committee of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) Sherif el Gabali said forming a elegation from the federation to accompany Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Bade Abdelatty on his visit Tanzania contributes to promoting cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade and investment and comes within the framework of consolidating economic relations with African countries in addition to political relations.
In a statement Thursday, Gabali said the foreign minister directed the formation of a committee to accompany him during his visit to Tanzania to enhance diplomatic and economic cooperation.
The committee played a pioneering role in strengthening bilateral relations, Gabali said.
He pointed out that a number of meetings were held between the two sides to discuss investment opportunities. The meetings also witnessed an intense presence and interest from the Tanzanian side, reflecting strong keenness on strengthening economic partnership with Egypt.
For their part, Tanzanian businessmen called for enhancing partnership with the Egyptian private sector and exploring opportunities for cooperation in the commercial and industrial fields in a way that would contribute to increasing the volume of trade exchange and establishing joint projects in agriculture and industry.
They also said Egyptian industrial base provides promising investment opportunities for Tanzanian investors, especially in light of the investment advantages offered by Egypt.
On the sidelines of the visit, the Egyptian and Tanzanian foreign ministers opened an economic forum in the presence of a large number of officials and investors from the Tanzanian side where Egyptian-Tanzanian relations.
The forum also discussed ways of boosting economic cooperation between the two countries in the various fields, including the agriculture domain, exchanging agricultural technology, as well as enhancing local production and Industry, with a view to opening new investment channels in the manufacturing and trade sectors through enhancing trade exchange and reducing trade barriers.
The FM visit is part of Egypt's strategy to strengthen ties with African countries, which contributes to achieving sustainable development and enhances common interests between Egypt and countries of the continent. (MENA)
