CAIRO, March 17 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said the State continues offering housing units within the presidential initiative "Housing for All Egyptians", announcing that some 400,000 residential units for low- and middle-income families, as well as for other categories, would be offered following Eid al-Fitr holiday.
The premier made the remarks during a meeting that he held on Monday to follow up on the implementation of the presidential initiative "Housing for All Egyptians".
The meeting was attended by Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, Local Development Minister Manal Awad, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, and Housing Minister Sherif El Sherbiny, as well as CEO of the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund Mai Abdel Hamid.
The prime minister checked up on the provision of the necessary funding to sustain the construction of social housing units, while supplying utilities and making services available for residents.
On his part, the housing minister said social housing units see high demand, adding his ministry is also working to enhance green housing in several new cities.
Abdel Hamid said approximately one million low-income housing units are being built, with 978,000 units were offered, while an additional 23,000 housing units are being offered.
She added that the low-income units include 54,600 "green housing" units in several new cities, such as New Obour, 10th of Ramadan, New October, Capital Gardens, Badr, New Aswan, and Sadat.
Regarding middle-income housing, the CEO of the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund said nearly 28,000 housing units are available.
Abdel Hamid briefed the prime minister on the status of mortgage financing, cash support, and interest support, noting there have been 620,407 beneficiaries of mortgage financing since 2014.
At the end of the meeting, the premier issued directives for keeping coordination among service ministries regarding the installation of electricity, water, and gas meters in housing units before their handover. (MENA)
