CAIRO, March 12 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Wednesday discussed with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani the efforts exerted to consolidate the ceasefire agreement and the exchange of hostages and detainees in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting was held during the foreign minister’s current visit to the Qatari capital Doha.

The two ministers reviewed the distinguished ties binding the two sisterly countries and ways to support and upgrade them in various fields, particularly through boosting economic, trade, and investment relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates said in a statement.

This goes in line with the strength of relations between the two countries and their brotherly peoples, the statement added.

The two ministers also tackled the outcomes of the extraordinary Arab Summit held in Cairo and the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah on supporting the Palestinian people.

In this regard, they emphasized the importance of increasing the flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and working to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of Palestinians living in the enclave.

The meeting also touched on ways to activate and implement the Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and the steps required to mobilize the necessary funding for it particularly in light of Egypt's hosting of an international conference for the reconstruction of Gaza in cooperation with the United Nations and the Palestinian government.
