CAIRO, Feb 15 (MENA) – The Egyptian Youth Council (EYC) and human rights organizations launched the " Cairo Document on Rejecting Displacement" at a conference at Al-Ahram Foundation.

The event brought together civil society groups, political leaders, religious figures, lawmakers, and diplomats.

For his part, Mohamed Mamdouh, the chairman of the EYC Board of Trustees and a member of the National Council for Human Rights, described the declaration as a historic stand against any forced displacement of Palestinians.

He termed the ongoing crisis as a war crime and a violation of human rights, condemning global double standards since the October 7 events.

The conference is meant to unite civil society efforts to block any attempt to displace Palestinians and demand legal accountability for those responsible.

Mamdouh stressed that Egypt will not accept political pressures seeking to impose illegal realities.

Meanwhile, Moushira Khattab, President of the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR), called for immediate recognition of a Palestinian state by the UN Security Council, just as it did for Israel decades ago.

She warned that the displacement of Palestinians is a clear human rights violation.

Hossam Badrawi praised the declaration as a powerful message from the Egyptian civil society.

He argued that public pressure strengthens political negotiations and that Western human rights rhetoric has been exposed as hollow in light of Gaza’s crisis.

During the talks, Basel Adel, Chairman of the Awareness Party, commended Egypt’s strong position and said it proves Cairo’s leadership in the region.

Journalist Abdel Mohsen Salama, a member of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, described the current crisis as the most serious since 1967.

He called for Arab unity to counter displacement efforts and hoped the upcoming Arab League Summit would mark a decisive turning point. (MENA)
