CAIRO, Feb 13 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty underlined the importance of kick-starting early recovery and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip without any displacement of Palestinians from their land.

The top diplomat made the remarks during a meeting in Paris on Thursday with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot.

He underscored the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the two-state solution to achieve peace in the region.

Spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khallaf said Abdelatty commended distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and France and deep bonds between the two friendly countries.

He also hailed mutual keenness on boosting cooperation in different fields.

For his part, Barrot conveyed the greeting of French President Emmanuel Macron to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The two ministers discussed ways of promoting unique economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and encouraging French investments in Egypt.

Abdelatty tackled various measures taken by Egypt to lure foreign investments and develop infrastructure, logistics services, roads, tunnels, ports and the sectors of communications and energy, in addition to empowering the private sector.

Both ministers exchanged viewpoints on regional developments. Abdelatty talked about Egypt's tireless efforts to cement the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and ensure the safe and sustainable delivery of humanitarian assistance into the coastal enclave.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in Syria and the Sahel region along with the Horn of Africa and Somalia.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's unwavering support of the Syrian people, underlining the importance of respecting the unity and integrity of Syrian territories. He also called for launching an inclusive political process in Syria that does not exclude any party.

The Egyptian foreign minister reviewed his country's position on water security issue and reiterated Egypt's firm stand on the need of reaching a legal and binding agreement to operate the dam in Ethiopia. (MENA)
