CAIRO, Feb 5 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi underlined, during a phone contact with French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday, the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities and support the implementation of the two-state solution, which represents the basic guarantee for restoring stability and peace to the Middle East region.
Presidential spokesperson Mohamed el Menshawi said President Sisi received a phone call from his French counterpart that emphasized the depth of relations between the two friendly countries, and their keenness to enhance cooperation in various fields to materialize the aspirations of the two peoples.
The two sides exchanged viewpoints towards regional developments as Sisi reviewed Egyptian efforts to ensure the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of captives and detainees.
The Egyptian president also expounded efforts to bring humanitarian aid into the Strip to alleviate the humanitarian tragedy the coastal enclave is facing.
The contact also plans for rebuilding the Gaza Strip to help restore stability and make the Strip inhabitable once again.
For his part, the French president expressed his appreciation for the Egyptian efforts, pointing to Egypt's pivotal role in achieving regional stability, voicing France's support for the Egyptian efforts in this regard.
The situation in Syria was also discussed, as the two presidents expressed their commitment to the unity of Syria and the integrity of its territories.
As for Lebanon, the two leaders voiced support for the Lebanese presidency and government, pointing to the importance of consolidating the ceasefire agreement, which will help restore stability in Lebanon and materialize the Lebanese people's aspirations for security and prosperity. (MENA)
