CAIRO, Feb 5 (MENA) - US President Donald Trump's recent statements included a promotion for the displacement of Palestinians, said the General Secretariat of the Arab League (AL) on Wednesday.
A statement issued by the AL secretariat said any scenario aimed at forcing the Palestinians to leave their homeland is totally rejected by Arab and world countries as it contradicts with the international law.
The US president's statements do not help in achieving the two-state solution and peace between the Palestinians and Israelis, the statement added.
The Arab countries insist on giving the Palestinians their legitimate rights including the establishment of a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Al Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital, according to the statement.
In an astonishing news conference in Washington Tuesday, Trump proposed the United States “take over” the Gaza Strip and permanently relocate the nearly two million Palestinians living there to neighboring countries.
His new comments – and the possibility of a US takeover of a sovereign territory – were immediately met with criticism and questions about the legality of such a move. (MENA)
