Abdelatty said that the discussions also emphasized the absolute rejection of any violation of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, as well as the demand to halt all unilateral practices in the occupied Palestinian territories, including settlement activities, military incursions into the West Bank, and violations of the legal and historical status of Islamic and Christian holy sites in the occupied East Jerusalem.
He pointed out the importance of Turkish support for all efforts to be made in the coming period, particularly regarding recovery projects, early reconstruction, removing rubble, and rebuilding the Gaza Strip. He also noted that he informed his Turkish counterpart of Egypt's plans to host a conference to mobilize international efforts for the reconstruction of Gaza and to maintain the resilience of the Palestinian people in their homeland, ensuring their right to rebuild the infrastructure that was destroyed in the war.
The two sides agreed on the utmost importance of ensuring that the Palestinian people remain in Gaza and rejecting any attempts to displace them. They also stressed the need to work to help them attain their legitimate rights.
Regarding the situation in Syria, the minister said that it was reaffirmed that the stability, security, sovereignty, unity, and prosperity of Syria, as well as the unity of its people, are of top priority for Egypt. Egypt stands with the Syrian people and their aspirations for security, stability, and prosperity, according to him.
The top Egyptian diplomat expressed hope that Syria would return to its active role within the Arab world, the Middle East region, and the international community, noting this can be achieved through the launch of a truly inclusive political process that involves all parties. This should be accompanied by rejecting and fighting terrorism to ensure the realization of the Syrian people's aspirations, he said, emphasizing that Syria should not become a center for incitement or a threat to any neighboring or regional country.
The minister also discussed with his Turkish counterpart how Cairo and Ankara can work together to achieve stability and security in Libya, stressing the importance of supporting Libyan national efforts to realize an all-Libyan settlement, respecting the role of Libyan national institutions, ending the current division within the executive authority and holding simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections.
He highlighted the importance of the withdrawal of all foreign forces, foreign fighters and mercenaries from the country to preserve Libya's unity and sovereignty and ensure its security and the interests of its people. He also said that both sides agreed on cooperating to ensure the restoration of security and stability in Libya.
The meeting tackled the situation in Lebanon, with both sides welcoming the election of President Joseph Aoun at the helm of the Arab country and the appointment of Nawaf Salam to head its government. Abdelatty expressed hope that these steps would mark the beginning of the return of stability to Lebanon, and eventually lead to fulfilling the aspirations of its people.
Both the Egyptian and Turkish ministers emphasized the necessity of solidifying the ceasefire agreement and committing to its implementation, and ensuring Israel's full and unconditional withdrawal from Lebanon and the enforcement of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
