CAIRO, Jan 29 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call on Wednesday from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, during which they discussed bilateral relations and the need to continue strengthening them in various fields.

The call touched on regional situation, where the Spanish premier praised Egypt's essential role in reaching a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, said Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed El Shenawy.

Sanchez was keen to listen to Sisi's vision regarding the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, which contributes to stopping the bloodshed and restoring calm to the region.

Sisi praised the Spanish position in support of the Palestinian cause, reviewing Egypt's efforts to enforce humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip in order to alleviate the humanitarian tragedy endured by the residents of the Strip.

He stressed Egypt's constants regarding the need to work to implement the two-state solution and establish an independent Palestinian state along the borders of June 4, 1967 as it represents the most important guarantee for achieving sustainable stability in the region.

The call also touched on the developments in Lebanon, Syria, Sudan and Libya as the two sides discussed ways to restore regional stability and protect peoples from the crises that are sweeping the region. (MENA)
