CAIRO, Jan 29 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed Wednesday the immense importance of safeguarding the basic rights of the Palestinian people to remain on their land and refuse to be displaced or dispossessed of their lands.
During a phone call with US State Secretary Marco Rubio, Abdelatty emphesized the necessity of respecting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination.
In statements on Wednesday, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khallaf said that Abdelatty and Rubio discussed the strong strategic partnership between the two countries and strengthening bilateral cooperation in various domains, in a way that contributes to consolidating the partnership and efforts aimed at facing enormous regional challenges.
The two sides also reviewed the developments related to the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. In this regard, Abdelatty stressed the importance of implementing the three interconnected stages of the deal.
Abdelatty also underlined the necessity of implementing the hostage-for-prisoner swap deal, and allowing the Palestinian people to return to their homes, the spokesman said.
He also called for allowing the sustainable access of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, as a major step to restore calm and stability and crystallize a political horizon that contributes to ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution and in accordance with the international legitimacy, the spokesman added.
