Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said that the national report submitted to the review mechanism reflects the extent of the achievements made in implementing the recommendations that Egypt received after the last periodic review in 2019, which contributed to strengthening national efforts aimed at improving rights and freedoms, despite the challenges that are still besetting Egypt.
During its last review session, Egypt received 372 recommendations, he said, adding that 301 recommendations were accepted.
He further said that the State institutions have intensified their efforts over the past five years to implement the recommendations, and the Egyptian delegation will review in detail during the session the tireless efforts made in this regard.
He, meanwhile, explained that the improvement of the human rights situation in Egypt in its comprehensive sense could not have been achieved without a strong political will and the guidance of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
He further said that Egypt's abiding by its international obligations in the human rights sphere is considered part of the comprehensive national vision. (MORE)
