GENEVA, Jan 27 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty commended the distinguished cooperation between Egypt and the International Labor Organization (ILO).
Abdelatty made the remarks in a meeting Monday with ILO Director General Gilbert Houngbo, as part of his visit to Geneva.
The top Egyptian diplomat hailed the important role played by ILO's office in Cairo in implementing different cooperation programs.
Abdelatty briefed Houngbo on the efforts exerted by the Egyptian State to achieve comprehensive development, improve the investment climate and develop infrastructure and human capacity.
The foreign minister stressed Egypt's keenness to foster cooperation with the ILO to support employment, enhance decent work and improve the work environment in the country.
Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's commitment to strengthening international labor standards, citing the country's recent ratification of the Maritime Labor Convention.
He stated that Egypt looks forward to cooperating with the ILO to benefit from its technical support for performing the obligations stated in the convention.
On his part, the ILO director general extolled Egypt's efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, especially as the country enjoys an important position at the regional and international levels.
Houngbo lauded Egypt's effective and key part in reaching understandings on various technical and political issues on the organization's agenda. (MENA)
