ZAGREB, Jan 26 (MENA) – Egypt's handball team secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the Handball World Cup after defeating Cape Verde 31-24 in a crucial match held in Zagreb.

The team led 14-13 at halftime and maintained their upper hand in the second half, ensuring a seven-goal victory.

Egypt, who finish second in Group 4 with 8 points, reach the quarters for the fourth consecutive and eighth overall quarterfinal qualification.

With this win, Egypt finished the main round with 8 points and will now face France, the Group 2 leader, in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at 18:30 Cairo time (GMT+2).

The Pharaohs lost their first main-round match against Iceland (27-24) but bounced back with a 26-25 win over Slovenia.

Star player Yehia Khaled was named Player of the Match for his standout performance, playing a great role in Egypt's important win. (MENA)
