CAIRO, Jan 26 (MENA) – India’s Charge d’Affaires in Egypt Ms C. Sushma highlighted the strong and evolving relationship between Egypt and India during a reception held to celebrate India’s Republic Day.

The event was attended by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat.

Ms. Sushma commended Egypt’s pivotal role as a gateway for Indian businesses to access African and European markets. Indian investments in Egypt now total nearly $4 billion, creating 38,000 jobs and boosting Egyptian exports by $1.5 billion, according to her.

She also noted the success of joint healthcare initiatives, such as the production of 70 million vaccine doses in Egypt through the partnership between VACSERA and India’s Serum Institute.

In education, she highlighted that over 2,000 Indian students are currently enrolled in Egyptian institutions, reflecting the growing bilateral focus on youth and skill development.

Educational ties are also flourishing, with over 2,000 Indian students enrolled in prestigious Egyptian institutions like Al-Azhar University and Cairo University, she pointed out.

For his part, Talaat extended congratulations to India on the Republic Day and reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to enhancing collaboration in strategic sectors, particularly technology, trade, healthcare, and education. (MENA)
