STRASBOURG, Jan 21 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty hailed the strong ties between Egypt and the European Union (EU), emphasizing the transformative impact of elevating the relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership in March 2024.
During a meeting with Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, Abdelatty highlighted the success of initiatives such as the Egypt-EU Investment Conference in June 2024, which marked a turning point in strengthening collaboration and unlocking mutual economic opportunities.
The minister underscored Egypt’s potential as a regional hub for manufacturing, trade, and renewable energy, pointing to the country’s strategic location and vast resources.
He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to deepening cooperation with the EU, implementing agreed-upon priorities, and advancing mutual economic and political interests.
The top diplomat said he is looking forward for the EU approval of the disbursement of the second tranche of its financial support to Egypt.
He also detailed Egypt’s role in mediating a Gaza ceasefire in coordination with Qatar and the United States, stressing the importance of the timely delivery of humanitarian aid to the war-devastated Palestinian enclave and the successful implementation of agreed stages of the ceasefire deal.
The discussion included a comprehensive exchange of views on pressing regional and international issues. (MENA)
