CAIRO, Jan 20 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi gave directives to the government to provide all forms of support for agricultural projects within the framework of the State's plan to expand the area of cultivated lands and increase agricultural production.

He also stressed the importance of linking projects with the government’s efforts with the view to achieving comprehensive economic development in various domains and in a way that contributes to improving citizens' living standards.

President Sisi's remarks came during a meeting on Monday with Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Amir Sayyed Ahmed, Head of the Armed Forces' Financial Affairs Authority Ahmed el-Shazly, Head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces Ahmed el-Azzazi and Executive Director of the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority Bahaa el-Ghannam.

In statements, Presidential Spokesman Mohammed el-Shennawy said that President Sisi is following up on progress made so far to implement the projects of Egypt’s Future Agency for Sustainable Development.

The projects aim at providing citizens with high-quality agricultural products at reasonable prices, achieve self-sufficiency in strategic goods, and export the surplus abroad, the spokesman added.

During the meeting, the spokesman stressed the necessity of backing these projects through mechanisms, topped by boosting the irrigation system efficiency and constructing silos for grain storage, the spokesman said.

These mechanisms aim at taking advantage of modern technology in land reclamation and developing sustainable agricultural mechanization systems, the spokesman further noted. (MENA)
